Kmart Spots For The Giving Hat™

Kmart Spots For The Giving Hat™

This holiday season, the creative team at Richter Studios is proud to have developed several new spots for Kmart. They are part of the retailer’s #TheGivingHat campaign and are a new way to draw attention, heighten awareness and raise funds in the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Working closely with the agency of record, Gerard, the crew at Richter Studios not only shot the spots but were also featured in them as well. All were filmed on location in Chicago wth Joel Manning serving as the Director and Joe Martinez, Jr. as the Director of Photography. Christian Mejia was the Gaffer for the shoot and all editing/animation was performed by Jessica Lawheed.

The Giving Hat™ is a stylish winter knit hat, one-size-fits-all and available in three versions embroidered with messages inspired by St. Jude patients and their families: “Smile,” “Laugh A Lot,” and “Give Thanks.” One dollar from the sale of each $5 hat will be added to the millions of dollars Kmart stores are raising this holiday season for St. Jude.* The Giving Hat™ is available exclusively at all Kmart stores and online at while supplies last. More info about the campaign can be found here.

Below are three commercials that Richter Studios shot, edited and animated:

Kmart The Giving Hat™ for All Heads (Commercial #1)

Kmart The Giving Hat™ for All Heads (Commercial #2)

Kmart The Giving Hat™ for All Heads (Commercial #3)

The campaign is being shared on a variety of social channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Vine, Facebook, Twitter & Google Plus. Shoppers can join the conversation and spread the word on social media by sharing a photo wearing the hat with the hashtag, #TheGivingHat. They can also help by tweeting the following: Help fight childhood cancer by buying @Kmart #TheGivingHat. $1 from each hat sold will be donated to @StJude.

This effort adds to the previous Kmart commercials filmed by Richter Studios in the Windy City. Just another proud feather in the cap of Chicago’s Premier Video Production Company.
