This place is a zoo! On its 216-acre campus just outside Chicago, the Chicago Zoological Society’s Brookfield Zoo houses more than 450 species of animals. Always taking a fresh approach to its exhibits, the zoo frequently hosts special events focused on particular species. For this fun live action commercial promoting a summer insect exhibit, our promotional video company happily winged and legged it over to Brookfield and other locations.
BROOKFIELD ZOO – “XTREME BUGS” | ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
Creepy, crawly, and cool. For its Xtreme Bugs exhibit featuring live and animatronic insects, Brookfield Zoo sought a super-creative, family-friendly approach: just the kind of work for which our promotional video company is known.
This live action commercial was designed as a spoof on a trailer for a summer blockbuster movie — rated G for “gigantic” — right down to the ominous-sounding voiceover (cast with the help of our partner Voices.com). In addition to live footage, we used photo manipulation to make the bugs appear to be moving in 3D space. Our cast, crew, and client all had a lot of fun on this TV commercial production, which got smiles from viewers and sent zoogoers scurrying to see the unique exhibit.
What could have been a static, mundane testimonial transformed into a delightful and engaging film.
