It’s a little known fact but the founders of Richter Studios started out as a couple of freelancers that specialized in animations and interactive content. Before the web became a true collaborative medium (hint: 56K modems), CD’s and desktop-based solutions were the only viable way to view and share robust interactive media.

This kink in the armor, however, didn’t slow down the medium. Unlike traditional print materials - be it brochures, sell sheets or advertisements - interactive content is, well, interactive. And for ten years, Richter Studios has been redefining this multimedia landscape one project at a time.

Richter Studios’ Silver Bullet. In the summer of July 2003, Kerry Americas and Richter Studios met at the IFT Trade Show in Las Vegas to discuss a new age presentation tool for Kerry’s sales team. Little did either firm know what was in the making. Click here to see the result.

“We’re so proud of our interactive efforts,” remarked CEO David Richter. “To see the medium go from 1x video content on CD’s to Blu-Ray discs with Ultra-High Definition interactive content is just awe-inspiring.”

The first-ever large scale interactive project that Richter Studios worked on was for Comdisco, a disaster recovery firm (which was eventually bought out by Sunguard). The Comdisco interactive CD experience featured hundreds of screens, 13 videos (shot by Richter Studios), PDF’s, web integration and it was compiled in 3 different languages - on the same CD. But the real kicker? It was developed in 1999 by a team of four, almost a decade ago.

“Our sales pitch for interactive projects is pretty straightforward these days,” explained Project Manager Ed Grozich. “And it usually goes something like this: If we created the Comdisco experience in early 1999, can you imagine what we can do now?”
It’s the “now” that keeps the blood churning at high-speed at Richter Studios these days. 2007 will be remembered as the year the company, in collaboration with By Inc., unveiled Presented By Inc., the company’s first-ever software offering. Created to address the high-end presentation market, where ten to upwards of several hundred million dollars are at stake, Presented By Inc. is being dubbed as the most advanced presentation software in the world.

“We pulled from over a decade of experience, combined it with some super input from our clients, and created a 21st century presentation application,” stated President Jeremy Richter. “Today’s computers are what Cray Supercomputers were a few decades ago. The problem we’ve seen is that even though a large numbers of users have this capability at their fingertips, they’re still stuck with archaic presentation software. Presented By Inc. is the Silver Bullet the presentation universe has needed for years.”

Despite Richter Studios deep commitment to Presented By Inc., the company realizes that CD’s and DVD’s aren’t going away anytime soon.

“Interactive CD’s and DVD’s are a robust business and we see no sign of this slowing down in the next few years,” explained David Richter. “A lot of our clients want to have a physical handout for mailers, trade shows and special events. While there is a recognizable shift towards creating more web-only content, we’ve also seen excited new trends in the interactive space, like Blue-Ray, HD-DVD and customizable flash drives, that have the potential to dramatically alter this niche.”

Millions Celebrate Virtues of Milk. Richter Studios created the groundbreaking interactive CD for Dairy Management’s 3-A-Day Campaign. Over 1.7 Million CD’s were distributed to over 8,500 locations nationwide. The CD featured several NFL celebrities, dieticians and fitness instructors.
