"Our approach to growing Richter Studios over the years has been very effective," explained Co-Founder Jeremy Richter. "And that is by asking ourselves a very simple question: 'Would we do this type of work for ourselves?' If the answer is 'yes', then we get after it with everything we have. But there have been many times where we have answered 'no' to this question - and that is what has made all the difference."
Started in 1997 by David and Jeremy Richter, the company has followed this creed for over a decade. Although it began as primarily an animation and interactive boutique, Richter Studios has matured into a full-service multimedia firm. High-end corporate video productions are what the company is best known for but its interactive teams have also produced numerous award-winning web experiences and interactive applications for dozens of Fortune 500 firms over the years.
David Richter, Co-Founder & President. After learning how to program on one of the world's first home computers (a Texas Instruments Sinclair) in 1981, David Richter enjoyed a storied career in software development and advanced programming. He now oversees all operations at Richter Studios and is also involved with sales.
Richter Studios is now a 15 person firm located in Chicago's West Loop. Occassionally referred to as a boutique, the company's vast experience has extended its reach around the world. In fact, as of January 2009, the company has shot on location in 26 states and 10 countries.
"It's not how many people you have," stated Co-Founder David Richter. "It's how many great people you have. We have a world-class team at Richter Studios that is genuinely committed to excellence. This fundamental approach is why we have shot from on top of the Trump Tower, underneath the arches of the Eiffel Tower and have interviewed some of the most influential CEO's and figures on the planet. Clients know when they hire us they are hiring a great team."
Two new sister companies - Richter Bros. Pictures, which specializes in independent features and documentaries and Richter Stock, which sells stock footage - have recently emerged to strengthen the company's overall offerings. Richter Bros. Pictures has already released it's first motion picture, "Discovering Deerpath", and will begin production on its second movie in the summer of 2010. Richter Stock will officially be launched in the spring of 2010.

Continuously evolving with technology trends is a central theme at Richter Studios, but it takes a back seat to the most important ingredient: client collaboration. "Clients hire Richter Studios because we invest ourselves in their people, goals and strategies," stated Jeremy Richter. "We fully recognize that the only way to enjoy what we do and grow our company is by making a great connection with our clients. Sometimes that can mean telling them they're wrong about a certain approach. Over time, clients begin to respect this and see its value. At the end of the day, its about trust and a true collaborative partnership always translates into excellence. This approach worked for us in the beginning and it will work for us in the months and years ahead in our pursuit of becoming the best multimedia firm we can be."
